The Text us button on your website

A small "Text us" button sits in the corner of every page of your site. A visitor taps it, types their name, mobile number, and what they need — and it arrives in your inbox as a text conversation you reply to by SMS.

What visitors see

The button opens a short panel: name, mobile number, message, and a Send text button. It works on phones and desktops alike (no texting app needed on their end), remembers their name and number for next time, and tells them who will text them back and from which number. Under the form is the consent line texting carriers require: By sending, you agree to receive a text reply from {business}. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.

What happens when someone sends one

1

It lands in Messages

The message shows up in Messages as a new conversation with that visitor, marked unread. If their number is already one of your customers, it joins their existing conversation.

2

Your team gets an alert

Everyone on your lead text alert list gets a text with the visitor's name, number, the message, and a link straight to the conversation.

3

You reply by text

Open the conversation and reply like any other text. It goes out from your business number. If lead auto-reply is on for your account, the visitor also gets an instant "we got it" text.

Turning it off, or renaming the button

Open your website's page in the portal (Website in the sidebar) and find the Text us widget card. Owners and admins can switch it off, switch it back on, or change the button label — Text a plumber, Text for a quote, whatever fits. Changes reach your live site within a minute.

It's on for every site by default because it's the fastest way for a visitor to start a conversation. Turn it off if your site already has another chat bubble in the same corner.

Spam and junk

The panel uses the same protection as your contact form: an invisible bot check, hidden trap fields, and a content filter. Bots get a fake "thanks" and nothing is saved. Any one phone number is limited to five messages an hour per site.

Common questions

Does it work before my texting number is approved?

Yes. The message still arrives in your inbox and your team still gets the alert. Only your reply back to the visitor waits on an approved texting number — until then it's saved as queued in the thread (see Sending & approval).

What if the visitor previously texted STOP?

Typing their number into the form and sending is a fresh, explicit opt-in, so you can reply. It's recorded as consent from the website form.

Is the visitor added as a client?

Yes, as a new client with source Text us — or matched to an existing client if we already have that number. They appear in Clients like any lead.
