Website changes by text
Three things you can do from anywhere by SMS: change something on your website, drop a new client into your CRM, or book an appointment on your calendar. Reply YES to confirm. No app, no login.
What the SMS line is for
Send a text from the phone number on file for your business. We read what you wrote, propose what we're about to do, and wait for your YES before saving anything.
Your business owner phone is the one tied to your LeadChime account — the number you used at sign-up. Team members can have their own phones, too; add them under Settings → Team so their texts get recognized.
The three commands
Change something on your website
Just say what you want changed. Examples:
- "Change the hero photo on the home page to the one I'm sending" (attach a photo by MMS)
- "Add 'free estimates' to the services list"
- "Update my phone number on the contact page to 555-1212"
If we're not sure which page or what wording, we'll ask one quick clarifying question and then make the change.
Add a client to your CRM
Tell us who. We'll pull out name, phone, email, address, and the kind of job from what you wrote.
You text: "Add Sarah Chen, 555-1212, [email protected], leaky faucet"
We reply:
Adding to your clients:
• Sarah Chen
• (555) 121-2
• [email protected]
• Leaky faucet
Reply YES to save, NO to cancel, or text changes (e.g. "phone is 555-9876").
YES saves. NO cancels. Anything else — "phone should be 555-9876", "and add address 412 Maple Dr" — updates the proposal and asks again.
Book a one-off appointment
Plain-English times work: "Tuesday at 2pm", "tomorrow afternoon", "3pm next Friday". We interpret in your business timezone, which is set under Settings → Schedule.
You text: "Book Sarah for Tuesday at 2pm — water heater install, 2 hours"
We reply:
Scheduling:
• Water heater install
• Sarah Chen
• Tue, May 26 at 2:00 PM
• 2 hours
Reply YES to save.
The appointment goes on the Schedule page, gets linked to the client if we found one matching name, and is assigned to whoever's phone texted in.
Heads-ups we'll add to the proposal
We never block your YES — but we do flag things on the proposal so you can catch them before saving:
- Past time. If the date/time has already gone by, we refuse to book it and ask you for a future time.
- Stale confirmation. If you delay too long and the time you proposed has since passed, we'll refuse the YES too instead of silently booking yesterday.
- Ambiguous client name. "Book Sarah" when there are three Sarahs in your CRM — we'll leave the link off and tell you "3 clients match; attach the right one in the portal."
- Overlap with another appointment. Same person, overlapping window? We'll mention the conflict. YES still books it (double-bookings happen sometimes — that's your call).
- Daylight-saving day. If the date you picked is the spring-forward or fall-back day, we explicitly state which time zone abbreviation (MDT vs. MST, EDT vs. EST) we used.
- Early-morning time. If you say "at 2" and we landed on 2:00 AM, we'll ask if you meant the PM time.
- Concurrent proposals. If you have a pending add-client and start a new appointment before confirming the first, we'll tell you which one we dropped so neither save vanishes silently.
Recurring or repeating? Use Contracts
The SMS line is for one-off bookings. If you write "book me every Tuesday at 2pm", we'll point you at Contracts instead — that's where recurring visits live, with auto-invoicing and a single agreement instead of dozens of separate appointments. See the Contracts guide.
What still lives in the portal
These belong in the LeadChime dashboard, not SMS:
- Rescheduling or cancelling an existing appointment — open it in Schedule.
- Quotes, invoices, and contracts — line items, totals, and payment links need real screens.
- Campaigns — SMS/email blasts to your client list.
- Account settings, team members, billing, payouts, domain purchases.
If you ask for one of these by text, we'll point you to the right URL.
If you run more than one site
Text switch at any time to see your sites and pick which one your incoming texts apply to. We'll show you a numbered list — reply with the number to switch. New texts go to that site until you switch again.
A YES sent to a proposal you made before switching still saves to the site it was originally proposed for. We lock the destination at proposal time so a mid-stream switch can't accidentally route the wrong way.
FAQ
Can I send photos?
Yes — attach up to five images by MMS. We download them and the developer who picks up your edit can use them on the site.
What if I notice a mistake after I sent YES?
For a client, edit it on the client record in the portal. For an appointment, tap it on the Schedule page to fix the time or details. For a website edit, just text the correction — we'll publish the fix.
Can I send multiple commands in one text?
One thing at a time works best. We're pretty good at parsing, but a single clear ask gets a clean confirmation; a four-part message turns into a back-and-forth.
I'm texting from a number you don't recognize
We'll let you know and point you at leadchime.com/get-started to set up. Once your phone is on file, future texts work right away.
I waited too long and now my YES says "I lost track"
Pending proposals expire after 15 minutes for safety. Just text the original request again — we'll re-propose and you can confirm freshly.
Does texting cost extra?
No. SMS is included in your LeadChime plan. Carrier rates from your phone provider may apply on your end, but there's no per-message charge from us.
Need more? Message us and we'll walk you through it personally.
